SUMMARY:Artist Event: Evangelia Philippidis with music by The Velvet Sirens (outdoor event - bring lawn chairs)
DESCRIPTION:Ohio Feminist Art Museum—OFAM\, will be hosting our first concert\, featuring Kelly Vaughn\, a sing-songwriter in the Columbus\, Ohio area\, on May 18th\, from 5 to 9pm. The location will be at MK’s home\, located at 68 Nadine Pl N\, Westerville\, Ohio 43081. \nKelly Vaughn was born and raised in the Columbus\, Ohio area. As a child she learned to play piano and guitar. Most of her life was spent around horses. Kelly was a professional horse trainer for 20+ years. She traveled the United States as well as Canada throughout her career. It was not until after losing her mother to cancer in 2010\, that she found herself reconnecting with her guitar and began writing music. In July of 2014\, she made the decision to pursue music full-time. \nShe has performed at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has opened for national touring artists such as two time grammy nominated Jennifer Knapp. Interviewed twice to date on Good Day Columbus\, she was recently featured on “Slice of Life” with Adam Slinger (WSYX6). She has also been featured in the Lancaster Eagle Gazette and kicked off the Brickyard Stage Final Friday Concert Series in Mansfield five years in a row. Her song “Ordinary Girl”\, from her debut EP (2014) was featured on local radio station CD 102.5 and she was highlighted on WGRN 94.1 “The Music Room” with Rick Barr. In March of 2017\, she released her first full-length album entitled “Life Goes On” and is currently playing a variety of venues promoting the new album. \nOFAM Members will get in at no cost. Tickets for non-members will be $30.00 per person. If a ticket holder decides to become an OFAM member during this event\, the membership price will be discounted by $30.00. \nParking will be on College Road\, between Sunbury Road and Spring Street. \nThe event will take place mostly outside so dress for the weather. Bring a lawn chair to sit on. If it rains\, the concert will be moved indoors. Food and a cash bar will be available for purchase during the event. Credit Cards are accepted. \nCome out and join our first concert; sit under the stars around a bonfire. All proceeds will pay Kelly for her work and the rest will be donated to OFAM for the expenses associated with this event. \nEvangelia Philippidis\nMEET THE ARTIST \nAs an editorial features illustrator for The Columbus Dispatch\, Evangelia spent 22 years presenting visual stories of humanity and hubris\, technology and spirituality\, passion and pathos.
